The new framework between the US, Iran and Israel lays out a roadmap to restore transit through one of the world’s most sensitive maritime corridors, where Iranian officials estimate roughly one-fifth of global crude exports normally pass. For routing and inventory decisions, that corridor has shifted almost overnight from unavailable to partially accessible, with conditions attached.
Iranian forces will conduct sea mine clearance for the first 30 days after the treaty signing on 19 June, during which naval escorts will govern safe passage.
