Dior Adopts AI Scanning To Cut Shipping Time

Dior Adopts AI Scanning To Cut Shipping Control Times by 85%

As luxury demand continues to push service expectations higher, Dior is stepping up investment in warehouse automation through a new collaboration with Scandit and Hardis. The move reflects a broader industry trend seen across retail and fashion, where real-time visibility and intelligent scanning tools are reshaping warehouse operations.

Smart Capture and AI Tools Reshape Dior’s Fulfilment Model

Dior, founded in 1946 and now a global force in luxury goods, is upgrading its warehouse infrastructure to support faster and more consistent fulfilment. By integrating Scandit’s smart data capture technology with the Hardis warehouse management system (WMS), the brand aims to increase accuracy, accelerate task execution, and reduce manual intervention across core workflows.

Scandit’s platform delivers real-time scanning insights that feed directly into Hardis’s cloud-based WMS, a system widely used to connect warehouses to broader supply chain ecosystems. The combined solution brings advanced capabilities such as AI-driven barcode recognition, augmented reality task assistance, and multi-code capture, capabilities that are increasingly common in warehouse automation deployments across retail and consumer goods sectors.

Samuel Mueller, CEO and Co-Founder of Scandit, said in an official statement that the partnership demonstrates how AI and augmented reality can transform legacy processes without needing new hardware. That emphasis on software-led enhancement mirrors trends cited in industry reports showing retailers prioritizing lightweight automation layers that speed up adoption and reduce capital expenditure.

Through this integration, Dior will also embed Scandit’s MatrixScan Count directly into Hardis’s WMS. The technology allows teams to scan multiple barcodes at once via the company’s Order Preparation app, dramatically reducing the time required to verify shipments. The company reports an 85% cut in shipping control time, improving flow-through speed while lowering the risk of errors.

Workflow Speed Gains Position Dior for Scalable Warehouse Automation

The new system provides warehouse operators with instant, AR-based feedback on scans, guiding workers through tasks with visual prompts that remove guesswork and eliminate unnecessary steps. MatrixScan Find improves item location and in-store pricing accuracy, reducing common points of friction between warehouse operations and retail storefronts.

Equally important, the tools operate on handheld devices, allowing workers to complete scanning tasks from anywhere in the facility. This shift away from fixed terminals is consistent with broader warehouse automation trends, where mobility and multi-function devices are helping reduce labor bottlenecks and streamline repetitive tasks.

AI-powered scanning also boosts resilience by capturing damaged or poorly printed barcodes, a capability that reduces exceptions and minimizes rework. Industry research shows that such tools can lift worker productivity and shorten cycle times, especially in high-SKU environments like luxury goods distribution.

The partnership further supports Dior’s seasonal ramp-up needs. With many fashion brands relying on temporary labor during peak periods, onboarding speed becomes a differentiator. The Scandit-Hardis system simplifies training, enabling new hires to become productive more quickly. Dior plans to roll out the technology across all distribution centers running Hardis WMS.

How Automation Redraws the Boundaries of Luxury Fulfilment

As warehouse automation becomes more capable and modular, luxury brands are beginning to experiment with how upstream data can inform merchandising, allocation, and in-season inventory decisions. Recent logistics research indicates that item-level scan data, when fed into forecasting systems, can help teams detect shifts in demand earlier and adjust replenishment before stock pressure builds. For companies like Dior, this creates an opportunity to extend the value of automation well beyond cycle-time gains, toward a more adaptive fulfilment model where operational signals play a larger role in shaping commercial decisions.
