Former Victoria’s Secret Exec to Head Levi’s Supply Chain

Levi Strauss & Co. has tapped Chris Callieri, most recently head of supply chain at Victoria’s Secret, to lead its global operations starting in September. The move comes as the denim brand faces mounting disruption costs and looks to accelerate its shift toward direct-to-consumer sales.

A New Leadership Model for Levi’s Supply Chain

The appointment marks a structural shift for Levi’s. Callieri will step into a newly created chief supply chain officer role that replaces the former chief operating officer position vacated by Liz O’Neill earlier this year. Reporting directly to CEO Michelle Gass, he will oversee product development, sourcing, global supply management, sustainability, and logistics.

Callieri brings more than two decades of experience in retail and consumer goods supply chains. At Victoria’s Secret, he managed global product development and distribution across multiple categories. He previously held leadership roles at Tory Burch, where he implemented platforms such as PLM and SAP, and at Adidas, where he ran product operations for lifestyle brands. His consulting background at A.T. Kearney and HRC Advisory further sharpened his focus on transformation and responsiveness.

Navigating Cost Pressures and Disruption Risks

Levi’s has faced higher costs in recent quarters, with Red Sea shipping disruptions and tariff uncertainty contributing to a 15% rise in inventory expenses. Callieri’s remit includes advancing sustainability initiatives while improving agility across Levi’s global network, a mandate closely tied to the company’s ambition to operate as a DTC-first lifestyle brand.

His appointment also signals Levi’s intent to deepen supply chain resilience at a time when apparel companies are rethinking global sourcing footprints. According to recent industry data, many brands are accelerating diversification into markets like Vietnam and Mexico to offset risks tied to China exposure and volatile trade policy.

The Hidden Test Ahead

While much of the focus will be on logistics and sourcing, the real test for Callieri may lie in balancing Levi’s sustainability pledges with the cost discipline demanded by shareholders. Apparel rivals that have overinvested in green initiatives without supply-side efficiency gains have struggled to maintain margins. Callieri’s challenge will be to integrate both, showing that resilience, sustainability, and profitability can be mutually reinforcing rather than competing priorities.
