Mondra Teams with UK Grocers, Utilizes Azure to Cut Scope 3 Emissions

Mondra collaborates with leading UK grocery chains, leveraging Microsoft Azure to enhance sustainability and reduce Scope 3 emissions through AI-powered lifecycle assessments.

Mondra, a member of the BRC Mondra Coalition, is collaborating with over 85% of the UK grocery sector, including Tesco, M&S, Co-op, Ocado Retail, ASDA, Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Starbucks, and Nando’s, to enhance the environmental performance of their products. This initiative aims to reduce Scope 3 emissions through scaled product footprinting.

Mondra’s application, now available on Microsoft Azure Marketplace, allows customers to benefit from the trusted Azure cloud platform, ensuring streamlined deployment and management. The company’s mission is to facilitate a prosperous and equitable transition to Net Zero through AI-powered technology that automates Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for a retailer’s products swiftly.

The Power of Collaboration: Mondra and Microsoft Azure

Mondra’s CEO, Jason Barrett, expressed his delight at making Mondra accessible to a broader audience through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. This move aligns with Mondra’s goal to simplify Scope 3 measurement and reporting for clients, enabling them to make business decisions that steer them towards Net Zero.

The Azure Marketplace, an online market for buying and selling cloud solutions certified to run on Azure, helps connect companies seeking innovative, cloud-based solutions with partners who have developed ready-to-use solutions.

AI-Powered Sustainability in the Food Supply Chain

Founded in 2020, Mondra operates as a software platform that records, monitors, and shares environmental data throughout the food supply chain. By creating digital twins of food supply chains using AI, Mondra enables users to collaborate and promote net zero policies. Users can also access a life cycle assessment on specific products, facilitating engagement with suppliers to reduce their carbon impact.

In February 2024, Mondra raised £3.6m (approx US$4.7m) in pre-Series A funding, demonstrating the growing interest and investment in sustainable supply chain solutions.
