Albertsons and Instacart are broadening their e-commerce collaboration to offer nationwide pickup and convenience delivery, including same-day delivery for Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Washington state.

Expanding the E-commerce Partnership

Albertsons and Instacart are enhancing their collaboration to include nationwide pickup and convenience delivery, as well as same-day delivery from Haggen Food & Pharmacy in Washington state. This expansion comes as numerous grocers are establishing or broadening their alliances with third-party e-commerce providers such as Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber.

Instacart is powering a virtual store named Albertsons Rapid, which promises order delivery in as little as 30 minutes. By the end of August, pickup for orders placed through Instacart will be available from over 2,000 locations under Albertsons banners, including Safeway, Albertsons, Shaw’s, ACME, Jewel-Osco, Randalls, and Vons.

Enhancing Customer Convenience

Customers will choose a time window for pickup, receive an in-app notification when their order is ready, and then wait in designated parking spaces for a store associate to bring out their order. Albertsons Rapid, the new virtual convenience store, is available across all Albertsons’ banner stores.

With Albertsons Rapid, customers can purchase items such as prepared foods, snacks, drinks, grocery staples, household essentials, and more. Albertsons Rapid service fees are $2.99 per order or free for Instacart+ members. However, the convenience delivery and pickup services are currently not available at United Supermarkets and Haggen Food & Pharmacy.

The introduction of same-day delivery with Haggen Food & Pharmacy marks the final Albertsons banner to partner with Instacart for same-day delivery. This expanded partnership provides Instacart app customers with more grocery choices. Albertsons and Instacart first partnered in 2017, and Albertsons has also entered e-commerce partnerships with Grubhub, DoorDash, and Uber.

The enhanced e-commerce alliance between Albertsons and Instacart, offering nationwide pickup, convenience delivery, and same-day delivery service expansions, showcases a commitment to providing customers with increased options and convenience in the grocery shopping experience. This partnership continues to evolve through innovative services and expanded offerings, showcasing the adaptation to a growing demand for flexible and efficient grocery shopping solutions.
